Hey Guys..
With my lack of updates I am not sure who is actually reading this, but I have some news.. Last week's show was actually the last episode of Domestic Disturbance.. This is not bad news though, starting this weekend I have a new radio show on K-Rock in NYC.. its along the same lines as the show I have been doing for the last 4 years with a few changes.. the new show will be airing on K-Rock with a bonus hour airing on Krock2. com right after the show.. 2 hours, lots more music.. lots more fun. Also I'm really excited because Neil is going to be helping me out and co-hosting the second hour of the show with me.. Below is a little blurb and this week's playlist (not in order) that they sent out as well as the press release about the show.. If you have stuff that you think I should be playing on the show let me know..

B Local our New York music show premieres this Sunday on K-Rock and K-Rock2. 92.3 K-ROCK ADDS LOCAL MUSIC SHOW TO LINEUP
Spotlight to Shine on New York Area Bands Starting Sunday, July 27

Local musicians around the New York area will have a new weekly outlet to showcase their music, as 92.3 K-Rock launches a new weekly program, B Local, broadcast Sunday nights (9:00-10:00PM) on-air and online at www. 923krock. com.
The program, which debuts Sunday, July 27, will feature music from the rock genre and all its sub-genres by artists from the tri-state area. The show's title is a nod to the mass transit system that connects the boroughs and the surrounding area, and its slogan will be: "Hear local, See local, B Local."

B Local will be hosted and produced by Mike Dubin, a 15-year veteran of the New York music scene. The Long Island native has worked with area bands as a photographer, graphic designer, A&R scout, and is founder of multiple independent labels. He hosted K-Rock's previous local music show, "Domestic Disturbance", which was broadcast on-air from 2004-06, and has since run on K-Rock2, the station's alternative online stream. A special two-hour version of B Local will run three times a week on K-Rock2.

"New York is going through another great musical renaissance, maybe the best one yet," said K-Rock Program Director Mike Tierney. "We arguably have the best local music scene in the world right now. The depth and breadth of music is truly amazing. K-Rock needs a show that reflects that and B Local needs a host whose vision is as big and as broad as the music is, someone who can be equal parts music fan, broadcaster, cheerleader, and ambassador to the people making the music. Mike Dubin is all of that. We are lucky to have him on our team, and thrilled about having him behind the microphone."

Dubin said, "I am excited that K-Rock is bringing local music back to New York radio. There are so many great artists emerging from the local scene and this show will be a great outlet to showcase their talents. B Local is the perfect place for music fans to discover up and coming artists that may have previously flown below the radar."

I received an email last night from Blogspot asking me to remove the show archive. There were apparently complaints from labels regarding some of the artists included in the shows available on my site. I love the idea of making the past shows available for all of you, but I do need to respect the wishes of the artists and because of that I decided to remove the past shows from the site. At some point I may re-post the playlists without the links to download episodes, but for the time being I've decided to remove the pages all together.. Remember you can always listen to my new show online, Sunday, Tuesday & Thursday from 10-Midnight on krock2.com

Sorry for being a bit behind lately.. everything has been kind of crazy around here. Let me start off by saying that all of our archived shows have been added and we are up to date!

...And now for the big news, we are very excited to announce that for the next two weeks (1/28 & 2/4) the band Ours will be our very special guests on Domestic Disturbance... They will preform some brand new material acoustic but thats not all...

Jimmy has also decided to make Domestic Disturbance the outlet for the world premiere of the new Ours record "Dancing For The Death of an Imaginary Enemy" (The first new music from Ours in 3 years). This is huge and we couldn't be more excited so make sure to tune in Sunday night at 9pm (or for the re-airs Tuesday and Thursday at 10pm)

Well its been a while.. Brand New is finally playing shows again, so I took this oppertunity to take some photos again and post them on my site... Lastly for this installment of the Dubin report, I am involved in a new record label called Curb Appeal Records with my friend Alex Brahl and some other equally cool dudes, our first release is from a band called Blackpool Lights (Featuring Jim Suptic from the Get Up Kids). The Color Fred

Tune in this Sunday when Fred Mascherino stops by to hang out with Dubin and Christian. Fred is probably best known for playing in Taking Back Sunday but he has been in so many great bands through out the years. Currently he has been doing some solo shows under the name The Color Fred where he plays songs from all of the bands he has been in. BAYSIDE

As Dubin posted below,the members of bayside and crew were involved in terrible tragedy this week.For all the bands that climb into a van,bus or any other vehcile that gets them across the country,this is truly a nightmare come true.
Dubin and Myself have both toured quit a bit,and I cant even begin to comprehend what it must be like to experience something of that magnitude.
Our hearts go out to Johns family and friends.I cant even imagine what theyre dealing with.I didnt really know him but we did have a few mutual friends.Seeing how distraught they all are makes it obvious he must have been an amazing guy.
Best wishes go to our friend nick(baysides bassist),who broke his back in the accident.
I also dont know the exact condition of Dan,their tech,who was also seriously injured.As soon as we hear anything on their condition,well make a post.

Our thoughts are with Baysides other 2 members Jack and Anthony.Both escaped injury,but suffered a huge loss.
For years,Anthony has kept Bayside affloat through trials and tribulations,and is the only original member.His faith in his band is admirable,and dedication is sincere.He and the rest of guys are one of the coolest bands,anyone can have the pleasure of dealing with.
We wish them the best of luck in whatever they choose to pursue.

ALSO-Hawthorne Heights and Silverstien both should be applauded for their support of bayside. They cancelled 5 shows on the tour and have vowed to play benefits insupport the fund set up for John,not to mention staying with bayside in wyoming.

R.I.P. John Holohan

There has been a tragic loss. Bayside was in a terrible accident this morning while driving to today's concert on the Never Sleep Again Tour, which includes their friends and labelmates Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein and Aiden. Their drummer, John "Beatz" Holohan, was killed when their van flipped after hitting a patch of ice outside of Cheyenne, WY. Their bass player Nick Ghanbarian was also seriously injured. Anthony and Jack have thankfully been discharged from the hospital. Members of the band's crew also remain hospitalized.

Tonight's show in Salt Lake City is cancelled. An annoucement regarding the rest of the tour will be made later today.

Donations to John's family can be made via Paypal to the John Holohan Bayside Memorial Fund.

K-TALK?

On my way into work this morning I was listening to Howard Stern and he was talking to David Lee Roth about how in January he would be replacing Stern on K-Rock (and on many of the stations he is syndicated to)... While they were talking the future plans of the station were discussed and it appears that K-Rock will be change formats once again and become a talk radio station. Unfortunately most of the DJs at K-Rock found out (at the same time as Stern's listeners) that they no longer had jobs. They haven't announced anything about the future of K-Rock2 yet, but as soon as we know anything about our show or the internet stream that it airs on we will let you know. As of now we are still planning to record this week's show and hopefully a few more after that... We will just have to see what happens.

Who's awake?

Its 5:13 AM. Im anxiously awaiting the arrival of this nor-easter,and to be quite honest,the impending flood it will surely bring to my basement. Until that time Napeloen Dynamite is keeping me occupied.
I have a gabillion things on my mind,but I only feel like sharing these little tidbits(chew on them wisely).

1-New Thrice (with the unpronounceable V-title)-is probably one of the best records of the year.
2-Speaking of Thrice,did you hear they confirmed taste of chaos along the The Deftones(holy crap) and Atreyu.
3-Rosa Parks died.. she was perhaps one of the last iconoclastic americans alive (besides for ex- presidents).
4-The new Propagandhi is good.Do you like them? This record is way different,Im not feeling it as much as the older ones,perhaps cause of the newer sound,but maybe i just need to accept change.
5-i cant think of a 5.
6-im talking to my friend who lives in LA right now on the phone and she just admitted she is drunk and driving.Apparently she says thats ok there.
7-So since this isnt the radio show,but tied to the radio show,does it mean me and dubin cant say anything bad about bands.

Christian and I would like to Welcome James (Reggie of Reggie and the Full Effect) to the area. We are not able to be more specific with his whereabouts, but James has moved into the K-Rock listening area and we hope to have him on the show as soon as he is home from his tour with My Chemical Romance and Alkaline Trio. In related news we would like to congratulate him on getting engaged, we know, we know this contradicts everything his last album was about but she rules and we are psyched for them...
